In 2009, she appeared as a character in Love Takes Wing as part of the Love Comes Softly TV series. In the age of 10 she played a role in the television show, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? In the movie, she played an individual from her school. In recent years her most prominent roles have been in New Girl episodes and Nikita. Basso is the lead character in D.J. Caruso's standing up is an uplifting coming-of age film that is based on Brock Cole's The Goats. It premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012. Basso, Chandler Canterbury and their comrades are set on an island in the deserted area naked as part a prank at summer camp.
